Shanghai Disney Resort continually seeks opportunities to minimize our operational impacts on the environment and has implemented a wide range of efforts designed to help the resort contribute towards our corporate environmental goals of reducing waste, and conserving energy and water.

Waste Minimization

Waste Minimization

With all of the restaurant, shops, shows, and hotel rooms at the Shanghai Disney Resort, it means there are also many types of waste. Recycling, reducing and reusing opportunities are continuously evaluated and pursued. We have adopted many innovative programs including: specially designed recycling bins, and an in-depth waste diversion program.

Water Conservation

Water Conservation

Many attractions, fountains, and gardens across our property require lots of water. To help conserve water, we have installed a hi-tech, computerized irrigation system which can reduce water use by 25% compared to traditional systems. We also have an integrated water treatment plant which will treat the lake and irrigation water to the appropriate standards without having to utilize drinking water.

Energy Conservation

Energy Conservation

The Combined Cooling, Heating, Power Plant (CCHP) is a grid-tied, gas-fired power plant which co-generates cooling and heating via engine waste heat, and produces compressed air by self-generated electricity. The CCHP supplies hot water and chilled water for space heating and cooling, domestic hot water, and all compressed air needs for the Shanghai Disney Resort’s daily operation in the most energy efficient and environment-friendly way. The CCHP reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 60% compared to traditional energy generation methods.
